Make Your Own Game Website To Earn Money Online

by Frank Eastwood on Oct.31, 2009, under web design

Games are one of the single most popular topics that people search for on the internet. They are so highly sought after, that there are millions of searches conducted every month for online games. This makes a gaming website a good choice if you’re thinking of creating a website of your own.

When thinking about creating a new game website, there are some important factors to think about. Be aware of these tips so you can avoid some of the common problems people run into when working on a new website concept.

Before anything else, make a decision about what type of a website you want to have. Is your website going to be geared towards adults, teenagers, or children? Are you going to have adult themed games on the website, or will it be family friendly?

Next, consider the scope of your gaming website. Would you prefer including all types of online games on your site, or do you want to focus on a specific genre or category of games? Also, think about whether you will have any paid features on your website or if it will be free for people to use.

The layout and organization of your website is another thing you should plan before you start building your site. Think about the type of layout or look you are shooting for. Consider the way your categories will be set up. One helpful hint is to sketch your layout ideas out on paper so you can solidify in your mind how you want it to look.

You will likely want to make some income from your website. Think about the different options for generating revenue on your site. The most simple solution is using a service like Google Adsense. With Adsense, you just pop in the code and the ads are generated for you. Every time someone clicks on an ad, you get paid.

If you have any other affiliate relationships or offers you would like to promote on your website, place a banner ad or two on your site with the affiliate codes. It’s also important to track how these perform and switch them out if they are not performing well.

These tips, if followed, will help make sure your website is set up the right way from the beginning. One of the single most important factors in any online business is proper setup. If you take the time to properly set up your website, you can expect to be successful!

Building game websites isn’t limited to just programmers. You can have your owngames website. Services like yourgamewebsite.com help you to have a website without any programming experience.

SEO basically is a process which seeks to ensure that the website in question meets specifications that the different search engines follow, in order to rate a website or decide its rankings. Adhering to such specifications, it is often seen that the ratings of the websites are increased and hence their positions on the results page. Search engines are of two types – Local and Global. As the name suggests, the local search engines are focused on the search rankings for local websites whereas the global search engines are more vast and deal with a greater number of websites in order to determine their results and rankings.

It is a well accepted fact that at local level, optimizing search results for your website is much easier. This is simply because of the reason that the competition is much less and hence it is a must that the owners focus on Local SEO first, and then target for Global SEO. So, when the search tag “Paris florist” is typed in, the search engine will display websites of all the florists in Paris and not of anywhere else. So, the local rankings are only among florists in Paris, which is much lesser competition than the global market and hence easy target and achieve.

It is advised that owners should focus on Local SEO first because this will allow them to rank well in Global searches. At the same time it is noticed that different search engines usually follow different rules, techniques and procedures to rank websites. It highly varies from one search engine to the other, and hence it becomes very difficult for an SEO specialist to study the rules and techniques used by each of them, and follow them to better the search results of the provided website.

But there are some common methods which can be used for all types of SEO. As for local SEO, all you need to do is focus on your “local area” keyword, and use it very frequently in your webpage, so as to let the search engine know the relevance of your article. So, is your keyword be “Nottingham bookstore”, then any search on the above keyword will place your webpage on a top rank in the Local search engine.

Should Affiliate Marketers Avoid Wordpress.com?

by Bruce Carl on Oct.31, 2009, under web design

Bloggers have many potential platforms to choose from. Wordpress is one of the most popular. Bloggers can choose to either download Wordpress (Wordpress.org) and host it themselves or have it hosted at Wordpress.com. These sites have similar names but their value to affiliate marketers is completely different.

Over the last few years, I have toyed with many different blogs. I have used several different blog platforms. When I became serious, about earning an income with blogging, I settled on the Wordpress platform. I created a hosted blog with Wordpress.com. Little did I know that decision was going to come with frustration and unanswered questions.

I started looking for a hosted Wordpress solution. Wordpress.com was built by the same people who worked on the Wordpress software (WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org, n.d). Wordpress.com offered many inviting features including:

1. I already had experience with the Wordpress software

2. Wordpress.com advertised the availability of over 70 templates

3. Availability of plug ins and widgets

4. Ease in tracking site visitors

5. Having a blog that was “xxxx.wordpress.com”

My experience started out wonderfully. I developed three different blogs. One was geared towards emergency management and the other two were geared towards making money online. I focused on one of the two making money blogs. I noticed two potential issues right away. Without paying, I only had access to about 12 templates. Wordpress.com also does not allow you to upload outside templates.

I started adding widgets to my blog. Wordpress.com did not allow me to upload my own template but Wordpress.com could be personalized through the widgets, right? Not at all, Wordpress.com offers a few widgets but is limited on the widgets that you can add. Wordpress.com also does not allow any javascript in their widgets. Wordpress.com’s rules about java script greatly reduced my ability to monetize. Java script is required to run ads from Google Adsense and Amazon.com.

Wordpress.com does allow some monetization. Small banner ads can be utilized by placing HTML into widgets. There are some downsides. Changing the ads requires manually changing the code. Not a deal breaker for me. I loved the ease of Wordpress that much.

I created my main blog. I could not get the exact look I wanted, however, it was acceptable and looked good. My plan was to get the blog generating an income and then add Wordpress.com’s pay services. Allowing my blog to be self sustaining. I began advertising by placing links and posting everyday. I began seeing some success.

I began focusing on writing posts to assist readers in making money online. I wrote about making money blogs and resources that I found useful (i.e. ZacJohnson.com and e-books). I also wrote about products, courses, etc. that had helped me learn about internet marketing.

My next move was to register with blog directories. I searched the web and came across a listing of 50 web directories. Each directory required you to register to submit your site. I spend two days registering the site.

Then disaster hits. I posted a review about Blogging for Dollars. It offered quality information and a 30 day all access preview for $1.97. Readers could cancel within 30 days and pay nothing else. I had signed up with their affiliate program after I had purchased the product. I am happy to show a receipt.

The next day, my blog was gone. I attempted to check the number of site visitors. I was shocked to see the blog was gone. Gone! Not just could not login or it had been suspended…no it was GONE! There was a message from Wordpress.com on the screen. It read “This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service”.

My mind whirled with potential explanations. Did I plagiarize? No, I was extremely careful to cite each and every one of my sources. I had not posted anything vulgar. Well, there was only one place to look….Wordpress.com’s Terms of Service. I found a few lines that offered some insight:

1. “the downloading, copying and use of the Content will not infringe the proprietary rights, including but not limited to the copyright, patent, trademark or trade secret rights, of any third party”

2. “you have fully complied with any third-party licenses relating to the Content, and have done all things necessary to successfully pass through to end users any required terms”

3. “the Content is not spam, is not machine- or randomly-generated, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing)”

4. “your blog is not named in a manner that misleads your readers into thinking that you are another person or company. For example, your blogs URL or name is not the name of a person other than yourself or company other than your own”

The previous four bullet points are quotes from Wordpress.com’s Terms of Service. The only potential issue I saw was my posting about products that people might find useful because I had included affiliate links, however, even this was a manner of point of view. I had recommended products but only because I had purchased them and found them useful. I had offered to provide proof that I used the product and had offered links to similar products that I was not an affiliate for.

Every story has two sides. I e-mailed Wodpress’s customer service. I wanted to hear their side of the story. I was hoping that it was a simple misunderstanding. A misunderstanding that could be worked out. I was very polite in the email. Wordpress has the right to refuse service. It is their business. I waited for a response.

Throughout the day, no answer from Wordpress.com came. It was not in my spam filter. Nope, no answer there. In checking my other two Wordpress blogs, I realized that my login was now suspended. Well, I guess Wordpress does not believe in customer service. Just shutoff your account with no explanation. They have this right but a little customer service might avoid articles like this.

For all budding affiliate marketers, be leery of hosting a blog at Wordpress.com. If you do not want to make any money, only impart information to the internet then Wordpress.com hosting is for you. Affiliate marketers, I would suggest sticking with downloading the Wordpress blogging platform to your own web hosting. i am happy to discuss this situation with anyone. You can find me at Bruce’s Money Rants.

You can learn how to make money for less than $2. Visit blogging for dollars to learn the tools necessary to explode your income.

Pearl Jam Earns Top American Rock Band Title

by Robert Warner on Oct.31, 2009, under multimedia

As I was catching up on the music world last week, I found myself reading an article with the published results of a survey. This survey polled American music fans, asking them who they felt the greatest rock band in American music history was. You might be surprised by the fact that more people voted Pearl Jam than any other band.

We’re not talking about the best band of the alternative music movement and we’re not talking about the best band of the last 20 years. This is the best American band of all-time.

From there, I was determined to make a long list of American bands who were better than Pearl Jam. As I began thinking about it, I realized that everyone I had in mind was a solo artist. I tried coming up with bands that many would agree were better, and they didn’t make the cut because of where they came from.

Then I realized that I genuinely couldn’t come up with a better American rock band than Pearl Jam. I tried, but I saw their point.

There are recent bands like Wilco and the White Stripes, but they haven’t been around for long enough. There are bands like Journey and Bon Jovi, but they don’t have as many hits. There were guys like Bob Dylan and Billy Joel, but they were solo artists and not bands. No one was able to best Pearl Jam.

I was truly stumped. Was there really no one better than Pearl Jam when it came to American rock history?

Not only were they big in the 90s, but they’re still producing some great music today. Take their latest release, Backspacer, for example. This album is packed with catchy songs, and almost 20 years later, the band has produced one of it’s best records yet.

Pearl Jam is a breath of fresh air in a music world that’s been tainted by corporate interests. They’ve never broken up, never have had any of the drug issues that so many other bands suffer from, and they’re all about pleasing their fans. I tip my hat to Pearl Jam for these very reasons.

Forex Traders, Close More Deals With The Right Publicity

by James Scott on Oct.31, 2009, under web design

As a corporate publicist I’m constantly beat over the head with the latest and greatest way to get my client’s brand out to the public in an orderly yet expedient manner. Fly-by-night methods and organizations come and go, yet the original promotional concepts that yield that greatest results are still at the forefront of the publicity industry, they’ve just evolved and taken a different shape.

Catering to the emotional triggers of the populace while weaving a web of information and post hypnotic cues through the cynical conscious minds to the unconscious faculty of legions of oblivious targets (oops! I mean ‘potential customers’) is still the name of the game. Television, the visual stimulus that fed exhausted, lackluster minds with a temporary, emotional escape from reality has been replaced by web-mercials and the fast pace of viral media.

The intellectuals that would gather facts on industry, politics and special interest concepts once supplied by the New Yorker and the New York Times is now replaced by the 24/7 information tornado of Web 2.0. Those colorful ads in Time and the Sunday paper have been overshadowed by interactive flash ads that cater to the senses of sight and sound. And of course the idiot radio DJ that would spit out grotesque and perverted one-liners while simultaneously converting the listeners mind matter to mush has been replaced by special interest audio and video Podcasts.

The actions and reactions of the general population have kept the same structure, but the adaptability and ability to absorb messages has evolved. When marketing to the masses the path to the decision making sector of the mind is still initiated with a single stimulus such as an image, sound or scent. When the attention is attracted, keep that initial stimuli active like the hypnotic dance of the cobra, then use the other senses to input messages for instant or future action, in most cases this action is a purchase.

Using television and AM/MF to promote a business on a shoestring or unlimited budget is like passing up a brand new luxury sedan for a 1985 Hyundai. These methods are out of date and should only be used as modest forms of passive branding while the heavy lifting of promotional branding and call to action publicity marketing should be done with online video, social and news bookmarking, press release distribution, blogging, unique article distribution, Podcasts and other innovative white-hat methods that cater to habits of modern man.

Bad Credit Construction Companies: No Credit Check, Unlimited Funding Availible Immediately

by James Scott on Oct.30, 2009, under web design

With the downturn in the economy and banks holding on to the bailout money they were supposed to be lending that was meant to stimulate the economy, the entrepreneurs are once again, thrown to the wolves.

Now there are wanna be consultants popping up on the web who are reselling private placement memorandum authoring services. It’s unbelievable to think that a company will spend $5,000 to $20,000 with an absolute amateur who doesn’t know the first thing about a PPM or the legalities of this document that can lead to the client getting sued by investors down the road.

Who is looking out for the client? Sadly, no one seems to be looking past the almighty dollar and actually trying to help the entrepreneur succeed in raising the capital they need to grow their business which will lead to job creation and stimulating the economy. If you’re a business that’s trying to raise capital here is some advice on how to prequalify a PPM service to find out if they are truly the author of your document or if they are simply using a template that will get you burned down the road or if they are simply taking your money and outsourcing the service to another group that has no real compression of this intricate document.

Ask them, in a stealthy way, to define these basic terms that are simple for anyone that does this for a living. What are Blue Sky Laws and how does that affect you when you’re raising capital? What is and do they include a complete state legend with your PPM? What is the difference between accredited and non accredited investors and how many of each can be used with each of the 3 types of PPMs?

What type of solicitation laws does the SEC have in place for a company that is fund raising with a PPM? How can you prepare for due diligence before the PPM is completed and in the hands of investors? These are just some of the most basic questions that will give you a feel for how well the consultant you are speaking to truly knows this industry. Always get all your questions answered before going with a consultant in this industry. Never go with a pushy consultant and always remember, the best Regulation D (Private Placement Memorandum) consultants will answer all your questions without up sells or ‘hurry up because this is a limited time offer’ mentality. The SEC created Regulation D exemptions (PPM) to help companies raise capital in a streamlined, simple way and this is an incredible method for any business to raise a little or a lot of money. Find the right consultant that includes everything in one, cost effective bundle and you’re on your way to getting the cash you need for your expansion objectives.

How Do I Put Music On My Website: Overview

by Trevor Johnson on Oct.30, 2009, under web design

How do I put music on my website is a question that many people ask. Putting music on a website is not difficult. It is done using html code to embed the music file. One can use html code to give the listener the choice of listening or have the music start playing when the website is visited. A person can use html code to have the player show, or not have the player show. This code is very easy to find on the internet and doesn’t cost anything, just time to type in the code that is necessary to make the action happen.

If a person does not want to take the time to type in the code themselves, there are businesses that provide it for a fee. When the code is provided the individual copies and pastes the code onto their website. There are also Internet businesses that, for a fee, will send updated code to paste which will change the music.

Before deciding to add music to a website one wants to think about some of the ramifications that can occur. Adding music is not always in the best interest of the business that is using it. Before uploading any music it is important to check the copyright for the music. Playing someone’s music without permission when it has a copyright is illegal. To play, even as background music, the website owner must have permission. Most music groups charge a license fee for their music if it is played on the Internet.

Another consideration is that if the music file is over 45KB most people will not wait for the music to load. Not everyone has a fast system, these people are also customers. They will exit the website before the music has finished downloading and a potential customer is lost.

Music is a very personal and subjective thing. Unless the website is exclusive to a target audience that likes the same group or song, there will be people who will exit because they hate the music. These are customers who will not browse the site and will not make a purchase. They hate the music, they are gone.

Lastly, is that when a website is interesting, word often gets around. Many people who surf the net at work, do so during their breaks and lunch. This is against the rules, but they do it anyway because no one will know. That is, until they get to the website they’ve been hearing about and music starts coming out of the speaker. Besides being embarrassing and really bad for the employee, the website has lost a customer.

Websites are the soul of any organization. It represents the entire business and makes a positive or negative impression on the viewer. A website needs to create a clean image. It may be simple to come up with a website, but to make it appealing is a demanding task. To remain in the competition, upgrade your websites frequently. But, make it effortless for browsers to navigate through the site by being simple. Below are few latest web design tips for you.

To make it simple for readers, keep the navigation simple. If browsers cannot navigate your site easily, they close it. Usually a guest goes through the home page and then looks for other contents or pages worth visiting.

Yes we all enjoy graphics and pictures, however you cannot upload too much of them on your website, as they make it difficult for the website to download and the browser might lose interest.

A website is not an area where you can show your talents to the viewers. When designing a web page, you need to remember your audiences. Although you may be guru of HTML language, you need to keep it simple, as the visitors will not be responsive of the same. Remember you are building a website for the first time users too.

As newcomers in the industry, we all wish to research with colors, and other animation to make our website appear distinct. But, too many bright hues and animation can ruin the appearance. To make your site one of a kind you should offer quality content.

After you have completed designing the website, make sure that it works in each browser. At times a website opens well in Internet Explorer but does not work in Firefox. Thus before the last uploading, make sure that your site looks same in every search engine. To assist your visitors to keep going back to you, give them something appealing each time they visit. However keep the main layout same except if you have a valid reason to change.

If you learn HTML, you will discover it’s simple to build your own website. But there are always experts to assist you.
