Why I Love Mariokart Wii

While I’ve enjoyed many video games through the course of my life, perhaps my favorite has been the new Mario Kart game for the Nintendo Wii. I can’t seem to put this game down and it’s been a year since I bought it.
If I told you that just about anyone could play this game and pick it up quickly, I wouldn’t be lying. I have a five year old cousin who was able to win a race in the novice mode her first time trying.
I love this video game for so many different reasons. Dating back to the original Mario Kart release in the early 90s, this game stays true to its original form and gives us so many of the elements we’ve grown to love. At the same time, it really masters its integration with the capabilities of the Wii.
The best part about this game is the Wii wheel. It’s a wireless add-on that allows you to use your regular Wii remote to guide the car, just as you would with a typical steering wheel. You wouldn’t believe how well it works.
There are so many different boards and race tracks too. With all kinds of little add-ons, the scenery is beautiful and the tracks are really intricate. With plenty of shortcut opportunities, it’ll be a while before you fully master this track. I must mention the online mode too.
This allows you to race against up to 11 other racers from all around the world, playing against them and earning points as you win, or losing them as you lose. As you could imagine, the pace is fast and the competition is fierce. I’m also a big fan of the ranking system.
The ranking system is great in the sense that it really lets you know how good you are compared to other people out there. This feeds right into my competitive spirit and makes things a lot of fun.
This is the best game I’ve ever bought for my Nintendo Wii, and possibly one of the best video games I’ve ever played.
