Use Webmasters Tools for Free

by Jon Moreno on Mar.18, 2010, under web design

“Nothing in life is free.” For sure, you’ve heard this line a lot of times already. Though this may be true to some, but for those who are running a website and constantly looking for ways to improve it, this is far from reality. Why? Because there are lots of free Google webmasters tools available on the web.

There is no doubt that these webmasters tools provide many benefits to website owners. These do not only help them develop their sites but also provide them information as to how sites are searched by Google and how they can be turned to Google-friendly sites. However, there are site owners who never experience the said benefits. The reason: they get caught up on the thought that they have to pay for these tools in order to use them. What they were thinking was the exact opposite because Google webmasters tools are free to use.

Anyway, here are some of the great tools offered by Google: diagnostics, statistics, links, and sitemaps. Diagnostics tool have something to do with web crawl, mobile crawl, and content analysis. It shows you any errors or problems Google encountered when it was crawling your site.

The statistics tool, on the other hand, is used to know your site’s top search queries, crawl stats, subscriber stats, index stats, and what Googlebot sees. This is a really interesting part of the Google webmasters tools because it allows you to see how visitors arrive at your site, how many click on your site link, and when it was crawled.

As for the links tool, you need it to keep track of the pages with external links, pages with internal links, and site links. This will also provide you information as to what pages of your site other sites linked to the most and if there are pages that link to other internal pages.

Lastly, there’s the sitemaps tool, indicating the pages of your site and letting Google know about these so it can crawl and index them easier and faster.

So there you have the free webmasters tools from Google. And since they’re free, you don’t have to think twice now about using them.
