Design Agency Leeds Can Help You Establish The Brand Of Your Business

by Dylan Hall on Aug.19, 2010, under print design

Use the services of a design agency Leeds if you want to establish a distinctive identity and brand for your business. These elements are crucial marketing tools that should be professionally formulated. With a strong message and a meaningful identity, your chances of attracting customers are high.

When you first approach a design agency, you will need to provide a good description of your business and the image you wish to portray. This information enables the agency to begin creating ideas and making some samples. When you are satisfied with the end product, it can be used in many forms.

Other services offered by design agencies include SEO, marketing and web design. All are very important components of a successful business. Perhaps the most vital of all is a quality website. Your website is often the first introduction a potential client has with your business and your services or products.

Therefore, you should not compromise quality for price. Many amateurs offer low fees to build sites but the standard is often inferior. In the long run, it is better to pay more for a professional designer who can ensure that the website is well written, attractive, and nicely laid out. A professional design agency has web builders that know how to create sites that can be ranked by the big search engines.

These search engines find it difficult to rank sites that contain novelties like flashes but nothing else. They find it easier to rank those that are rich in text and have a unique content. As such, an experienced designer will be aware of this and able to achieve the correct balance.

A design agency Leeds is also able to help devise powerful advertising campaigns for television, newspapers, online banner advertising, and radio. A competent editor at the agency can write articles about your company for submission to appropriate websites. Advertising on billboards, on trains, buses, or at cinemas can also be designed.

If you need to market your business and require corporate literature then talk to an agency called england who are corporate literature experts, with 20 years experiance.

Your Business Card Design Is Critical To Your Business

by Steven Snell on Jul.04, 2010, under print design

It is a good investment for your business to have a stylized business card design. What will your potential customer remember when he looks at this card in a few months? If your card does not stand out that potential customer may not use your card when your services are what he or she needs. Your card represents your business. Work with a good designer that will make your card stand out in a crowd.

Due to shortage of space, you must be quite specific with what ad copy you place on the card. What key points do you want to make sure a potential customer would have? The company name is probably the most important thing for someone to remember, or possibly your name. Determine which and then plan the design with that in mind. After you determine where you want that name placed, leave white space around it so as to make it pop off the page, causing the eye to be drawn to it.

Graphics can be used to help identify you, but due to space they should be kept to a minimum and only used if it helps enhance your image. You do not want to use them if it is just to fill up space. A photo might be appropriate, depending on your business. When using color with business cards remember that less is more. Too many colors in the type typically is just a confusing mess. Use contrast between the color of the card and your type. Make sure it is easy to read. If someone has trouble reading it, they may not bother.

Your fourth grade teacher would have nightmares over the lack of good grammar used when typesetting. The rules just do not apply. You are splashing a white space with bits of information and bullets are pleasing to the eye whereas commas drag down a design. Use only one or two fonts and change up the style with bold, stretching or italics. When you are done typesetting it watch out for typos. How does it look? Does your eye make the trip from the most important element to the second and third? Or is there any focus? If your important element does not stand out then add white space and tighten up the other copy. You might also use bold type.

The one thing you do not want to do is ’shotgun’ the design. That is a typesetting term that means everything is equally spaced between each line and nothing is standing out. Whether it is right justified or centered is not the issue. If nothing stands out why would your potential customer call you? You want the main item to be what catches the eye first. Then you should have a second and possibly a third item that is important. You use font, size and possibly color to make that happen.

There are three style cards available to you these days. One sided, two sided and folded cards are all available to choose from. They each have reasons for being chosen, price being one of those reasons. A one sided card while less expensive also gives the least amount of space for applying type. It can be done though, just place on it the essential information such as name, address, and phone. However if you have an online business you will also need the website and email address. The other two styles give you more space to work with and therefore can add more information.

To check your design, hold it out at arms length. See where your eye goes. Is the first thing you see the most important element on your card? Then where does your eye go? And does your eye see the third element? If your eye goes where you want it to at arms length, then your customer to be will also. Make sure you have a good designer to help with these things, then you will be ready to hand them out.

What Is A Giclee Canvas Print Reproduction?

by Emily Miller-Jee on Jun.23, 2010, under print design

High quality digital art files are used to create high quality prints that closely match the original artwork. Giclee canvas prints and giclee fine art paper prints are produced using archival quality inks, archival fine art paper or artist’s canvas.

If you would like your giclee print to have the look of an original oil painting on canvas or board, then you should order a giclee canvas print and display the print without glass. Alternatively if you would like to display your print behind glass then you should order an archival fine art paper print. Giclee canvas prints and giclee paper prints are on display at some of the world’s leading art galleries, such as the New York Museum of Modern Art.

Genres such as seascapes, landscapes, equine prints, canine prints and old portraits tend to work very well as giclee canvas prints, whereas old illustrations or lithographs from books that were originally printed on paper tend to work better on archival fine art paper. Examples of old book illustrations that work well on fine art paper include the illustrations from the Beatrix Potter books for children’s nurseries.

Giclee canvas prints are printed on artist’s canvas using a very high-quality digital print file. After printing, the canvas may then be coated by hand by brushing on an acrylic varnish, to give the print some of the texture of the original painting. This also further protects the archival inks used to produce the print. Most giclee prints are produced using archival inks, which means that the inks have been certified by the manufacturer to last for over 100 years for indoor displays (many inks are certified to last longer than that in fact). Most reputable companies that produce giclee prints advertise that they use archival inks, but if they don’t you should check before purchasing your print. This is important, as you would like the print to last for generations to come.

Adding a brushed varnish coating usually works well when the original was an oil, acrylic or watercolor painting, where the artist’s original brushstrokes were evident. A brushed varnish coating does not tend to work so well for photographic reproductions on canvas however as the original did not display any brushwork. For photograph reproductions on canvas it is preferable for the print company to either spray the varnish coating (in controlled conditions) or use one of the high quality pre-coated canvas materials (such as Epson’s pre-coated gloss canvas) that work well to protect the print without a separate varnish coating.

Most giclee canvas print companies offer to send you your giclee canvas print either ’stretched’ or ‘unstretched’. A canvas print is stretched when it is attached over a wooden stretcher frame (like a skin over drum). A canvas print needs to be stretched before it can be framed. If you order an unstretched canvas print online then you will need to have your local frameshop stretch it for you before it can be framed. The shipping cost will usually be cheaper for unstretched prints however, as they are usually shipped rolled in a tube.

If you would like to hang your canvas print on the wall as a panel without a frame (which is often the way that original art is displayed in galleries) you should order a gallery-wrap or “museum-wrap” print. The process to produce a gallery-wrap is the same as that used to create a stretched canvas print, apart from the fact that additional color is added to all four edges of the print to bleed the color around the edges of the print when it is stretched. None of the original art is lost in this process (in fact color is added to the original at the edges), but it prevents white canvas from showing around the edge of the stretched canvas. You can always frame a gallery-wrapped print later if you decide you would prefer the art in a frame after all.

It is not necessary to gallery-wrap your canvas print if you know for certain that you intend to frame the print, because the sides of the stretched canvas will always be completely hidden by the frame. A gallery-wrapped canvas print can always however be framed later, in the same way as a stretched print would be, so if you would like the flexibility to display your canvas print either framed or unframed, then you should purchase a gallery-wrapped canvas print.

Giclee prints on archival fine art paper are not stretched or varnished in the same way as canvas prints are and they are generally intended to be mounted under glass, often surrounded by an archival card matte, through which the print is displayed. Before purchasing a giclee print on paper, you should however confirm that the print will be produced on archival paper.

If you decided to produce your print on fine art paper, then it is important to ensure that the paper used is archival. This means that no chemicals were used in the production of the paper (such as chlorine) which could result in a deterioration of the paper over time. This deteroriation could cause the browning see in old books or other paper where the chlorine has reacted with the air over time. If you like the aged look then simply ask your printer to preserve the original ageing of the paper that the art was produced on in your reproduction.

Even if you decide that you would like the ageing of the original paper that the original art was produced on replicated (for example the ageing of the paper in an old book illustration) then you should still ensure that the paper used for the reproduction is archival. You may also request your printer to convert an original that was in color into black and white or sepia. This can be particularly striking if you plan on displaying a group of art by the same artist in a grouping.

How To Design An Effective Business Card

by Steven Snell on May.24, 2010, under print design

A business card can be a wonderful way to create a business relationship with others. The design of your business card can say a lot about you, and at times it may even be the deciding factor as to whether or not someone decides if they are going to contact your business. There are a few tips and tricks that can help when it comes to choosing your business card design!

The way that your business card looks can be very important when it comes to whether or not someone pays attention to it. Try your best to come up with a business card design that is eye catching and memorable to people that you hand it out to.

Bright colors naturally are very attractive visually to many people, so a bright colored paper is a great way to make people notice your card! There are many different shades to choose from, so pick a color that is both interesting and appropriate. You don’t want to go overboard with the neon!

You can also choose whether you would like to create your design horizontally or vertically. Vertical cards are more rare, so this is something for you to consider.

A slogan is a really great thing that you can decide to add to your business card design. If you are just now creating a new slogan for your business, try to pick something that is very catchy. This will help people to remember your business by keeping the slogan fresh in their minds.

In addition, if your business has a picture or a logo that is well known by many people, it is a wise idea to put this on your card. People will instantly remember you whenever they see that familiar image.

When choosing fonts to include on your business cards, try not to get too fancy. Some fonts may be difficult for people to read. If people cannot read the writing on your card this will defeat the entire purpose of handing out the business card in the first place.

At first, creating your business card may seem like an overwhelming process but it doesn’t have to be. Once you have taken all of these tips into consideration, then chances are things will move along quite smoothly for you!
